St. Louis Powerhitters Accomplishments

2016-17 Season

The 14's, 15's, and 16's played at the USAV Nationals, this time in Minneapolis. Olympic medalist Scott Touzinsky hosted a camp for the Club. The highlight of the 13's season was their first place finish at the University of Illinois. The Club competed in the initial season of the Gateway League.  

2015-16 Season

The 13's, 15's and 17's played at the USAV National Championships in Indianapolis. Olympian Scott Touzinsky once again hosted a club-only camp for players and coaches. 

2014-15 Season

The 13's, 14's 15's 16's and 17's teams played at the USAV National Championships in New Orleans. 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Touzinsky held two Powerhitters players -only clinics as well as a coaches' clinic leading up to Nationals.  

2013-14 Season

The Club became an original member of the Premier Invitational League. The 14,'s, 15's, and 16's teams played at the USA Volleyball National Championships in Minneapolis.

2012-13 Season

Girl's 18's: Paige Whipple, Andrea Inman and Miranda Kaufmann (16's) led Valmeyer High School to a 4th place finish in the Illinois Class 1A State Championships.

Paige Whipple was named All State Honorable Mention.

Mallory Hubbard, Webster Groves High School, was named 1st Team Suburban South All Conference.

Girl's 17's: Hailey Womack, Pattonville High School, was named 2nd Team Suburban North All Conference and 2nd team All District.

Rachael Kraft, Eureka High School, was named Suburban West Confeence Rookie of the Year.

Girl's 16's: Gabby Ivy, John Burroughs High School, was named 2nd Team Metro League All Conference.

The Club was but one of five in the Region to have an eligible team play at each age level in all of the "Big Four" Events - the Gateway Girl's Festival, a National Qualifier, the Regional Championships, and the Bid Event.

Rebecca Pugliese became the first Player inducted into the Club's Hall of Fame. Becky played in the first year of our Girl's program in 2006-07 as a 12, and finished seven years later as an 18.

2011-12 Season

Girl's 12: The team won the Zinc sub division championship at Regionals, finishing 19th overall among Gold Division teams. It finished 13th in Gold at the Asics National Championships in Chicago.

Girl's 13: The team finished 5th in the Silver Division at the Asics National Championships in Chicago. It placed 19th in Gold at Regionals.

Girl's 14's: The team participated in the NCAA Division III National Championship "Fun Day" at Washington University on November 19. Co-sponsored by the Region, the NCAA, and the University, players scrimmaged other Gateway 14's teams, received a commerative Championship t-shirt, received tickets to the semi-finals, and had opportunities to meet the players and coaches of the Final Four teams. The team was 9th in Silver at the Asics tournament, and 28th in Gold at the Regional championships.

Girl's 15: The team finished 9th in the Bronze Division at the Asics tournament in Chicago, and 28th in Gold at Regionals.

Girl''s 16: Katy Gyore (Gibault High School) named to Belleville News Democrat All Area Honorable Mention team.

The team finished 9th in the Gold Division at Regionals. It won the Bronze championship at the Asics National championships in Chicago.

The team finsihed 3rd in the Gateway Girl's Festival in the Gold Division, making it the highest ranking 16's team from the Region.

Girl's 17: The team finished 7th in the Gold Division at the Regional championships. It took 5th in Gold at the Asics National championships in Chicago.

Girl's 18's: Coach Heather Ebert, in her first year as the Head Coach at Gibault Catholic High School, led her team to a 4th place finish at the Illinois Class 1A State Championships. Erin Goldschmidt, Hannah Wessel, and Kate Fletcher (18's) starred on that team.

The 18's competed in the St. Louis Power League. It won the Silver Division at the Gateway Girl's Festival.

Collegiate signings included Rachelle Wiegand (University of Illinois - Springfield- Waterloo High School), Erin Goldschmidt (Southern Indiana University - Gibault Catholic High School), Amanda Muehlberg (Greenville College - Waterloo High School), Hannah Wessel (McKendree College - Gibault Catholic High School), Casey Kuechle (John A. Logan Community College - Collinsville High School), Brooke Pruett (Southwest Illinois College - Collinsville High School), and Kate Fletcher (Lake Land Community College - Gibault Catholic High School).

Coach Heather Ebert was named Co-Coach of the Year by the Bellevile New Democrat of its All Area team. Also honored for Class 1A-2A schools were Gibault players Hannah Wessel (1st team), Erin Goldschmidt (2nd team), and Kate Fletcher (Honorable Mention). For Class 3A-4A schools Rachelle Wiegand (Waterloo High School) iwas named to the All Area 2nd team, and Casey Kuechle (Collinsville High School) to the Honorable Mention team.

Hannah Wessel was named the 2012 St. Louis Post Dispatch Scholar Athlete at Gibualt High School. The program recognizes one student at each area school who play varsity sports and excel in the classroom. She ranked 6th in her class, was a soccer and volleyball co-captain, and was All State Honorable Mention in volleyball, ranking in the area's top 15 in kills.

                                        2010-11 Season           

Girl's 12's - Finished 2nd in Copper Division at Gateway Regionals. Played the 16th most difficult schedule among teams playing a minimum of 40 games in their age group of 63 teams. Finished 10th in Silver Division at Asics National Championships.

Girl's 13's - Finished 17th in Gateway Regionals out of 72 teams in their age group. Played the 3rd most difficult schedule among teams playing a minimum of 40 games in their age group. Finished 5th out of 33 teams in Gold Division at Asics National Championships.

Girls's 14 - Won the Silver Division at Gateway Regionals, finishing 11th out of 74 teams in their age group. Played the #1 most difficult schedule among teams playing a minimum of 40 games in their age group. Played in the St. Louis Power League. Finshed 10th at Asics National Championships out of 56 teams. Partcipated in the NCAA Division III National Championship festivities at Washington University.

Girl's 15's - Finished 2nd in Silver Division at Gateway Regionals, finishing 12th out of 69 teams in their age group. Played the 5th most difficult schedule among teams playing a minimum of 40 games in their age group. Finished 5th in Silver Division at Asics National Championships.

Girl's 16's - Won the Silver Division at Gateway Regionals, finishing 11th out of 89 teams in their age group. Played the 5th most difficult schedule among all 16's teams. Played in the St. Louis Power League. Finshed 9th in Gold Division at Asics National Championships out of 52 teams.

2009-10 Season

Girls's 11's - Finished 19th out of 33 teams in the Region; played the 3rd most difficult schedule in its age group among teams playing 30 or more regular season games; was the only 11's team to compete in the Gateway Girl's Festival, which is an age 12 and up tournament.

Girl's 12's Finished 15th in the Region out of 65 teams, played the 4th most difficult schedule in its age group in the Region among teams playing 30 or more games.

Girl's 13's - Won 5 tournamrnts, and finished 2nd twice in 9 tournaments; ranked 5th out of 72 teams in the Region; played the 8th most difficult schedule in its age group among teams playing 30 or more games. Competed in the JVA/AAU National Championships in Orlando, Florida.

Girl's 14's - Won one tournament, ranked 17th out of 81 teams in the Region; played the 15th most difficult schedule in the Region among teams playing 30 or more games in its age group. Competed in the JVA/AAU National Championships in Orlando, Florida.

Girls' 15's - Won 2 tournaments, and finshed 2nd 4 times 9 tournaments; ranked 9th out of 70 teams in the Region. Played the 2nd most difficult schedule in the Region among teams playing 30 or more games in its age group. Competed in the JVA/AAU National Championships in Orlando, Florida.

2008-09 Season

Girl's 11's - 2nd in Zinc Division at Regionals; won 2 tournaments; posted winning record while playing 2nd most difficult schedule in their age group (40 game minimum).

Girl's 12's - 5th in Gold Division at Regionals; won 3 tournaments, finished second four times, and third twice during regular season; posted winning record while playing 2nd most difficult schedule in their age group (40 game minimum). Silver Division Champions at the Asics National Championships in Chicago. Qualified for the Gold Division (Top 16) at the JVA Championships in Louisville.

Girl's 13's - 9th in Gold Division at Regionals; won 1 tournament; posted winning record while playing 3rd most difficult schedule in their age group (40 game minimum). Qualified for the Gold Division at the Asics National Championships in Chicago.

Girl's 14's - 9th in Gold Division at Regionals; won 1 tournament; posted winning record while playing 8th most difficult schedule in their age group (40 game minimum). Won the Bronze Division at the Asics National Championships in Chicago

Club Director Kevin Nelson is awarded the "Dennis Lafata Meritorious Service Award" for outstanding service and contributions to volleyball in the Gateway Region on August 7, 2009 by the Region's Executive Board and USA Volleyball. The Award is in honor of the long-time Associate Regional Commissioner in whose honor the Gateway Boy's Festival is named, and is the Region's highest honor of individual achievement.

The Board of Directors establishes a Club "Hall of Fame" to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions to the Club by players, parents, coaches, and Club personnel. Charter members are Club Founder Teresa Russo and Coaches Brandi and Patrick Kozemski.

2007-08 Season

Girl's 11's - 3rd in Gold Division at Regionals; played the #1 toughest schedule in their age group during the regular season

Girl's 12's - 3rd in Gold Division at Regionals and played in USA Volleyball Junior  Nationals in Dallas, Texas; played 5th most difficult schedule in their age group during regular season

Boy's 13's - 1st in 14's Silver Division at Regionals

First tryouts for girl's 11's and 12's as St. Louis Powerhitters held at Oakville Middle School. Coaches Brandi and Patrick Kozemski (11's), and Christian Juenger (12's) conduct tryouts; Club Director is Kevin Nelson.

2005-06 Season

"Powerhitters" founded by Teresa Russo as Boy's 11's team. First tryout held October 22, 2005.

2007-08 12's Team - USA Volleyball Nationals
