Coaching Opportunities

The St. Louis Powerhitters continuously seeks energetic, enthusiastic and knowledgable coaches for our program. We are interested in hiring coaches in various stages of their careers. We welcome individuals with no or little experience, as well as veteran coaches who are  interested in re-energizing their careers with a new club and a better talent base. We work with coaches to place them at an age level commensurate with their interests, abilities, and Club needs. Interested individuals should contact Club Director Kevin Nelson at any point of the year.

The Club's philosophy has been to add teams systematically such that we have a team at each level for ages 12-18. We have accomplished that goal. We choose to be a small, select and elite Club, filling a specific niche. We are dedicated to performing at the highest competitive levels, playing in the Gold/Silver Division, and do not accept waivered players. Following Regionals, we expect all teams age 12 and above to play in either the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships (Nationals),  the Junior Volleyball  Association/Amateur Athletic Union Championships (JVA/AAU), or the Asics National Championships.

Coaches are compensated for their time and knowledge. For the upcoming 2011-12 season Head Coaches will receive $1,200, and Assistant Coaches receive $1,000. These salaries place us at/near the top of the pay scale for area teams. Coaches are provided a free Powerhitters logo golf shirt. The Club pays for all coaching education, registration, and background screen fees, and provides all necessary volleyball equipment. The Club pays for all travel expenses consistent with the Club's travel policy governing room accommodations, food, airlines, rental cars, and incidental expenses. Club leaderhip makes arrangements for tryouts, practices, and clinics at facilities in the Rockwood, Webster Groves, Lindbergh, Mehlville/Oakville, Affton, and Fox/Seckman School Districts, including private schools, community centers, and public school gyms, thus relieving coaches of this duty. Coaches are expected to participate in pre-tryout clinics, tryouts, become certified in scorekeeping and officiating, and attend other Club and Region-sponsored events as required.
